Bean Prison 1884 Handcuffs
Bean Prison 1884 Handcuffs
Excellent set of Bean Prison 1884 Handcuffs with working key.
This is a great example of 1880’s police technology with the inclusion of the revolutionary locking button found on the outside of the handcuff body. This allowed the handcuffs to be carried all day long in a pouch or pocket and remain in an unlocked mode until the lock buttons were pressed which in turn activated the locking mechanism inside the cuffs.
This handcuff was used often by Houdini and other Escape Artists of the early 1900’s because they were heavy, looked good and could be gimmicked for instant release (this pair is not gimmicked).
This example is in perfect working order and retains a smooth patina.
